Another sweet, hot read from Eva Gale. I really liked it. The story deals with a couple who are in love but somehow their sex life is now a mess.

Note: this review and rating is solely based on Courtney Milan’s novella, “This Wicked Gift”, which is a part of her Carhart series.

“This Wicked Gift”, Courtney Milan
Carhart #0.5

H/h - William White/Lavinia Spencer
Setting: London, 1822.

I mean wow wow wow! Such a wonderful novella! A beautiful story between two souls that clicked and fitted in a way I didn’t think I’d find in a novella. Courtney Milan’s “This Wicked Gift” stole my heart, so did William. If you’ve read her Carhart series, you’d know William White from book #1, who works as Gareth’s man of affair. I never would’ve thought what a sexy darling he would be. I didn’t read the novella before Proof by Seduction so I had no idea. I thought he’s just another secondary character, with a boring life. OMG but didn’t he prove me wrong? His and Lavinia’s chemistry was so intense and his need for Lavinia was so strong... Ah, all I can do is *sigh* This book takes place about 15 or so years before Proof by Seduction.

Carhart #1

Proof by Seduction was my first Courtney Milan book. I’ve heard good things about her books, yet honestly I didn’t know what to expect. I really liked this book, yet there were times I was frustrated more than once, wasn’t sure where the H/h are going and how their ‘situation’ would be ultimately solved. But in the end, I know Gareth won me over though I wish it didn’t take these two for such a long time to see reason.

Moonlight (novella)
A free installment

Elliott Mabeuse
Contemporary/Erotica

H/h - The Narrator/Jessica
Setting: In a stadium, location unknown.

Read in Sept, 2011.
My rating:

                                                                [spoiler alert]

This free novella is about one night in a shadowy corner of a stadium with the narrator (name unknown), a poet in the making (or so I understood) and his possible the then girlfriend Jessica. It was a quick read. I give this a 3.5 star simply because the sex was hot. It could’ve been 4 for me if there was an implication of something special blossoming between them and then perhaps turned into something deeper. But, I was pretty sure she was just a girlfriend and the sex was really good as I got it, that they found something sacred between this exchange of their bodies.

H/h - Dr. Joseph Drake/Constance Gerald
Setting: England, 1860.

Read in Sept, 2011.
My rating:

Ok have to admit the whole premise of this novella sounded weird to me but it was because I had no idea how a patient of hysteria was treated back in the middle or late 19th century. I haven’t read a review for this before reading, so I went back to Wikipedia and this is what I learned on female hysteria and it’s treatment:

The Croft by Elliot Mabeuse

The Croft

Elliot Mabeuse
Contemporary Romance/Erotica/Paranormal
Published in 2006

H/h - Angus McConnachie, the Laird of The Croft/Anne Cavanaugh
Setting: Scotland, present time.

Read in Sept, 2011.
My rating:

Well Dr. Mabeuse, another weird book but strangely I ended up liking this one despite of the eww-stuffs that had me agape for some pages. Maybe you’ve done quite a good job working with my mind lolz. This book, I knew, was about a vampire. Even though I don’t like vampire novels, this one about a vampire that feeds on human erotic energy caught my attentions. For a long time in the book, I had no idea what Angus was, thinking he was a vampire just as he told Anne; even a different type mind you! But, holy holy crap! The revelation in the end, I was caught, struck, slapped, jolted (whatever you feel like using here) by that! Umm, now I think I have to do a good review of this one, so will try to be focused. And yes, I did find myself laughing more than once in various parts too.

Historical Romance

My rating:

                                                        [spoiler alert]

After my 2nd reading of the book...

Oh yes yes yes, I want Heath. I can’t seem to forget how crazy he was for Lucy through the whole story. I mean this is why I adore LK heroes; this is what I wanna see in my Romance, this is why this book is still one of my LK favorites. If I didn’t already know when I read it first it’s one of her earliest books, I wouldn’t have guessed at all. This book actually showed the brilliance LK would turn out to be in the later years.
