His Mortal Soul (novella)

a.c. Mason
Contemporary Romance/Paranormal/Erotica
Published in 2012 [requested review]

H/h - Deacon Lorcan Kieran/Sephora Silverman
Setting: Present time.

Read in June, 2013
My rating:

                                                  [spoiler alert]

a.c. Mason’s erotic paranormal romance, His Mortal Soul was a short and quick read. I liked the premised quite a lot, even though Vampires aren’t my thing. Liked the author’s writing too, as she very ably held my interest throughout the story.

Conors Way

Currently I’m going through this odd crush on the names Connor and Daniel which is actually why I picked up this book by Laura Lee Guhrke. I heard her name of course but somehow, never got around reading one before. I would say I was dumb. After reading a few reviews of Conor's Way, I HAD to read this book and now I’m SO glad that I did. I loved LLG’s writing along with the background (as flashbacks) of Irish Republican Brotherhood (IRB) around the time of American Civil War and their failed revolution. It was a painful read, the torture of the British army on them which had me thinking over and over again, yes, things such as this happened before and happening even today. After reading this book, I ended up reconsidering my concept of a ‘tortured hero’ because I wouldn’t wish what Conor went through on anyone! :(

Don't Tempt Me
The Georgian #4

Sylvia Day
Historical Romance/Erotica
Published in 2008

H/h - Simon Quinn/Lynette Baillon
Setting: Paris, 1780.

Read in Dec, 2011.
My rating:

Alright, gotta say Don't Tempt Me had quite a lot of twists and turns I really enjoyed. Romance-wise, Simon and Lynette’s relationship wasn’t satisfactory. I was more interested in Lysette and Edward’s but SD cheated me out of their HEA by ignoring them in the end.

Finally, after 7 months of waiting I get to read the most anticipated release for me of this year. So, did I find everything I was hoping for? The answer is, yes, I did... almost. The story was fantastic, the writing excellent. Mickey was absolutely mind blowing, heart warming, hawt and sweet. Silence was adorable, the kind of heroine I want in my Romance, no wishy-washy whiner! I loved ALL the love scene of this book. Even then, there were things I thought weren’t mentioned or discussed well in the end. Many may find Mickey’s transformation kinda over-the-top but for me, it was perfect. I mean this is why I read a romance because I want my pirate to be wicked(-ly sexy) and remain so with me; be insane about me, love and worship me. Mickey did all that and more for Silence. It was incredible, because when Silence understood him (thanks to Mickey that he wasn’t being obtuse at that point) and returned it too. I loved that EH didn’t make Mickey out to be something he wasn’t and his yearning to hold one shaft of goodness in his life, Silence (and Mary Darling), no matter the cost, was just delicious to read.

After my 3rd reading...

Umm Jack. Call me something in that lilting Irish brogue and I’ll come running to you. You’re such a big, strong, manly man of a man! Ooh! Seriously, I actually went to some Irish language website just to know how ‘a chuisle mo chroi’ and ‘mhuirnin’ are pronounced. I didn’t find both but I got close. God, I’d do anything to have Jack calling me his little ‘mhuirnin’. *sigh*

The Year of Living Scandalously
The Secrets of Hadley Green #1

Julia London
Historical Romance
Published in 2010

H/h - Declan O'Connor, the Earl of Donnelly/Keira Hannigan
Setting: Hadley Green, England 1808.

Read in Oct, 2010.
My rating:

A little note: I LURVE this cover! Guy is just such burnin' hotness, ooh! I actually thought he was perfect for Declan. ;) Any info on him would be helpful.
                                                                   [spoiler alert]

I thought Declan would get his book as another in Scandalous series, since he was Nathan, Jack and Grayson's friend. But, it seems like it's a new series! These are my random thoughts while reading the book. I'd do a full review when I re-read, hopefully soon.

The Wife Trap by Tracy Anne Warren

The Wife Trap
The Trap Trilogy #2

Tracy Anne Warren
Historical Romance
Published in 2006

H/h - Darragh O'Brien/Jeannette Brantford
Setting: Ireland, 1817.

Read in Feb, 2011.

My rating: 4 out of 5

                                                                 [spoiler alert]

Truth be told, didn't quite expect to enjoy it this much given Jeannette's tantrums, mood swings and mischief fit for a 7 yrs. old but somehow she isn't quite the evil I so sensed in her in The Husband Trap, not yet at least. On the other hand, another reason might be Darragh, I fell for him the moment I met him, he is so witty and sweet. So, couldn't put the book down, at least read 7 chaps before I was done with a headache lolz. It should've been grating to see her being insanely childish about the starting of early morning construction work in her cousin's house which is supposedly ruining her sleep, since she never rises before 10am. Darragh foiling all her usual attempts to bend things her way with his wit and cunning is a pleasure to read. I also see some vulnerabilities in Jeannette and Darragh might be the right person to handle her, so far he has impressed me quite a lot. ;)
