Blurb Blitz and Giveaway: Corporate Merger by Elisabeth Roseland

Tuesday, July 30, 2013

Today, Elisabeth Roseland's newest release, Corporate Merger, book 3 of Ebony Nights, is being featured in this Virtual Blurb Blitz tour. This tour is arranged by Goddess Fish Promotions. In the following, you'll find the necessary information on the book, an excerpt and how to connect with Elisabeth.

Elisabeth Roseland will be awarding an eBook of the first book in the series to a randomly drawn commenter during the tour.

Corporate Merger
(Ebony Nights #3)

Amy Connelly has gotten used to the taste of shoe leather. Every time she opens her mouth to talk to gorgeous co-worker Eric Lewis, she puts her foot right in it.

Tired of the painful sight of her turning into a hopeless motormouth or tongue-tied fool at Eric’s approach, Amy’s friends take steps to remedy the problem. Her thirtieth birthday present is three desensitization dates with Derrick Vaughn, an Ebony Nights escort and an Eric look-a-like.

It’s magic. Communicating with Derrick is easy, especially when it’s their bodies doing the talking. He’s even helped her rediscover the kinky side she’s repressed for so long.

Eric? That’s a different story. She’s failed miserably at two of Derrick’s three assignments for her—asking Eric to lunch and dinner—thanks to a meddling, flirty co-worker who’s suddenly vying for Eric’s attention. If shy, awkward Amy is to have a chance, she’ll have to kick it up a notch…or three.

Warning: This book contains an awkward motormouth heroine, a painfully shy hero, and a sexy male escort who knows how to set them on the course of true love.

Ensnared by the Dream Lord (novella)
Dark Lords #3

Jaide Fox
Medieval Romance/Fantasy/Erotica (light BDSM)
Published in 2012

H/h - Morpheus Dragunas/Lady Adriana Bordeaux
Setting: Medieval times.

Read in July, 2013.
My rating:

                                                       [spoiler alert]

Storywise, I didn’t enjoy Ensnared by the Dream Lord by Jaide Fox as much as I did book 1 and 2 because it felt somewhat hazy and rushed. But WOW, the sex was hot, plain and simple, just as Morpheus, our H. Adriana... after reading her story, I’ve decided that she won’t be my favorite sister.

Days of Rakes and Roses by Anna Campbell

Days of Rakes and Roses (novella)
Sons of Sin #1.5

Anna Campbell
Historical Romance
Published in 2013

H/h - Simon Metcalf/Lady Lydia Rothermere
Setting: London, 1826.

Read in July, 2013.
My rating:

                                                 [spoiler alert]

I was really looking forward to Days of Rakes and Roses by Anna Campbell ever since I found out about it. But unfortunately, I didn’t enjoy this novella. I could barely stand the characters and their activities throughout, so it barely made 3 stars. Too bad, the cover is so lovely!

When I read book 1, Seven Nights in a Rogue's Bed (which I LOVED), I found no indication that there might be a novella. We met Jonas’s (H of book 1) friends, Camden and Richard though. This story takes place a little earlier. Lydia, the h, is Cam’s sister, who was briefly mentioned in book 1.

Seized by the Vampire Lord (novella)
Dark Lords #2

Jaide Fox
Medieval Romance/Fantasy/Erotica (mild BDSM)
Published in 2012

H/h - Daegon Erlansson/Lady Cerise Bordeaux
Setting: Medieval times.

Read in July, 2013.
My rating:

                                               [spoiler alert]

Now, this was fun! Seized by the Vampire Lord by Jaide Fox was very entertaining. I even got the amount of smut I felt was lacking in book 1, Captured by the Dark Lord.

This story goes simultaneously with book 1, where Lord Bordeaux trespassed into a rumored death knight, an accursed for centuries, Damian’s castle on a stormy night. He is manipulated to strike a deal the knight in exchange of his rescue; to give Damian his eldest daughter, Bianca. He had no intention of following through but when Bianca learns of it, she instantly runs to her father’s rescue. Damian needed a healer to break his curse, and Bianca was exactly that. They fall in love later and Bianca decides to be with Damian after his curse is broken.

Promo Spotlight: The Atomic Circus by K.C. Finn

Wednesday, July 24, 2013

The Atomic Circus, book 1 of sci-fi/crime series Caecilius Rex and the debut novel of author K.C. Finn, is being featured today in this Promo Spotlight. In the following you'll find all the information regarding the book, an excerpt and how to connect with K.C.

The Atomic Circus
(Caecilius Rex #1)

A story is never a good story unless it starts with a murder. The more unusual the murder, the better the story, generally speaking. Meet Caecilius (KAI-KILL-EE-USS) Rex, a young detective in the not-too-distant future, a smog-filled post apocalyptic world riddled with crime and conspiracy. When a new case quite literally falls at Rex's feet, he teams up with his neighbour and associate Kendra Nai, an ex-army sergeant recently dismissed, to investigate. Little do they know that the events of The Atomic Circus will be the first step to solving the case of a lifetime.

Captured by the Dark Lord (novella)
Dark Lords #1

Jaide Fox
Medieval Romance/Fantasy/Erotica (very light BDSM)
Published in 2013

H/h - Damian Alessandro/Lady Bianca Bordeaux
Setting: Medieval times.

Read in July, 2013.
My rating:

                                                [spoiler alert]

Well, can’t say I didn’t enjoy Captured by the Dark Lord by Jaide Fox but it was just too short. I mean when I thought that story just started is when it finished... just like that. There wasn’t even enough smut for me to give it a better rating. *sigh*

Escorted by Claire Kent

Escorted
Escorted #1

Claire Kent
Contemporary Romance/Erotica
Published in 2012

H/h - Alexander "Ander" Milton/Lori Addison
Setting: Present time.

Read in July, 2013.
My rating:

                                                    [spoiler alert]

If you know me, you’ll know that gigolo heroes are my guilty pleasures. I always want to love a gigolo book, though on the way, I do end up finding something that isn’t up to the mark. Escorted by Claire Kent was somewhat like that. I jumped when I read its blurb because the storyline really interested me. I mean, how many virgin+gigolo contemporary books are out there, right? But, sadly, I ended up with a very underwhelming book that had no story to speak of and no emotional bond between the characters... maybe until the very end. By then, I just lost any interest I initially might’ve had.

Guest Post and Giveaway: A Scene of Inspiration by Loni Lynne, author of Wanted: One Ghost

Friday, July 19, 2013

Today, I have this intriguing bit of Guest Post by author Loni Lynne, where she talks about something that must've inspired some of the scenes in Wanted: One Ghost. I do believe the scenes of cemetery were a common thing in that story. Alongside the post, you'll find an excerpt and additional information on Wanted: One Ghost, links and how to connect with Ms. Lynne. Hope you enjoy the post and the book as much as I did!

If you want to have a glimpse of the review of Wanted: One Ghost by Yours Truly, click here.

Loni Lynne will be awarding a $15 Amazon/B&N GC (winner's choice) to one randomly drawn commenter during the tour.

A Scene of Inspiration

The snow crunches beneath my feet, the crisp bite in the air takes my breath away, but not as much as the
scene before me.

Marble obelisks and crypts haphazardly dot rolling knolls and valleys. Their white smoothness are blemished only by the dark aged inscriptions etched into them—some still visible to the naked eye, some barely legible.

These are parts of the past. The remaining history of those who were here before. The dates of birth and death tell their own stories, some were very young—others lived for a century. The details in the artistry of their monuments speak of military service, religious beliefs and social belonging. Their beloveds lay close by, some in fenced off family plots, others just neatly positioned beside them.

A Cemetery in Sepia
Many of these stone markers are over a hundred years old, dating back to the early to mid 1800’s, some even older, and yet here they continue to stand sentry over those who’ve paved the way in our community.

It’s quiet, even so close to town in the early afternoon. The solitude isn’t eerie, just peaceful and beautiful. There is the aroma of another possible snow storm coming in. I stand in awe looking over the hallowed grounds, the barren winter trees throwing shadows over the pristine scene. I have a picture in my mind now—an inspiration to see me through my scene and yet, it’s more about the feeling I have then just a scene for my story.

I only hope I can convey the blissful feelings it has evoked in me to those who read my words now and in years to come.

Authors Note: I love to be able to get inspiration from places I’ve been for my stories. The fictional town of Kings Mill, Maryland in my book, Wanted: One Ghost, is compiled of many images from local sites around where I live in Western Maryland. Steeped in American History from the colonial beginnings to the Civil War, there is much to learn and view and just take in.

Are there places you enjoy that you wish you could share with others? I would love to hear about them.

Thank you for having me here today and for letting me share in a special moment. Looking forward to hearing back!
