Dorinda and the Doctor (novella)
The Duke's Men #2.5

Sabrina Jeffries
Historical Romance
Published in 2014

H/h - Dr. Percy Worth/Dorinda Nunley
Setting: England, 1828.

Read in July, 2014.
My rating:

                                                  [spoiler alert]

Dorinda and the Doctor  by Sabrina Jeffries is a very short novella in her The Duke’s Men series. It tells us the story of Dr. Percy Worth and a young widow he met over at the Duke of Lyons’ estate. TBH, I never thought Dr. Worth was going to have a separate story of his own, as short as it was. Nevertheless, I had to give it a try.

If you haven’t read The Duke’s Men yet, you might wanna start with Hellions of Hallstead Hall as this series is somewhat linked to the Hellions. Most of the lead male characters here were introduced as secondary characters in the Hellions series. ‘Duke’s Men’ is a fancy name for Manton’s Investigation, run by Dominic Manton. Dominic or Dom’s younger half-siblings (his deceased father, the viscount’s mistress’s children) also help him running this company. Though Dom’s elder brother can’t stand the sight of either Tristan or Lisette, Dom is fond of both and appreciates having them close. Thus he has been banished and disinherited. But Dom doesn’t care a whit, he has studied and happy doing what he loves best.

Falling for the Pirate
Men of Fortune #2

Amber Lin
Historical Romance
Publication: July 21, 2014 (ARC review)

H/h - Captain Nathaniel Bowen/Juliana Hargate
Setting: London, 1820.

Read in July, 2014.
My rating:

                                               [spoiler alert]

I have to admit first that Amber Lin’s Falling for the Pirate, book 2 of Men of Fortune, had much potential to be superb. I really liked book 1, which is why I wanted to continue with the series. Sadly, all those potentials weren’t met to my liking. Instead, I had quite a confusing time trying to figure out the buildup of the H and h’s relationship.

In book 1, the company run by the Duke of Sinclair, Adrian with Nate, Hale and another buddy of theirs was mentioned, even if only a snippet of it. Letters at Christmas was Hale’s story, a ship’s captain, who returned home after a long time to win his childhood sweetheart, Sidony, back. It was very short yet sweet. There weren’t much about his friends in that installment, except that they attend Hale and Sidony’s marriage.

The Seduction 4 (novella)
The Seduction #4

Roxy Sloane
Contemporary Romance/Erotica
Published in 2014

H/h - Vaughn/Keely Fawes
Setting: Present time.

Read in July, 2014.
My rating:

                                                  [spoiler alert]

Just finished The Seduction 4, the last installment of The Seduction series by Roxy Sloane. What can I say? It was enjoyable but nothing special.

The self-proclaimed “Seducer”, who used to seduce women in exchange of big amount of cash, was given an assignment of spinning his magical God-in-Bed mana on Keely, a reserved, less experienced girl by ‘someone’. Vaughn went in because he thought Keely was attractive enough (not to mention the money), not having a clue that this time, his perfect record of conquering every conquest is going to crash. From the first moment, Keely shook his world as bad as he did hers.
