My Favorite Love Songs

Thanks so much to Punya Reviews for hosting me today! So many writers talk about listening to music when they write, but I'm the silent type of writer. I don't have a playlist that goes along with my novels. In fact, half the time I have earbuds in my ears, I'm not listening to anything but the voices in my own head.

But music does take up a huge majority of my day when I'm not writing. Songs inspire scenes in my mind. Today I'm excited to share with you my top ten favorite love songs of all time and the lyrics* that caught in my heart when I heard them.

10. It's Your Love by Tim McGraw and Faith Hill - "Better than I was, more than I am, and all of this happened by taking your hand..."

9. Time After Time by Cyndi Lauper - "If you fall I will catch you, I will be waiting..."

8. You're The First, The Last, My Everything by Barry White - "And the answer to all my dreams..."

7. Because You Loved Me by Celine Dion - "My world is a better place because of you..."

6. Wicked Game by Chris Isaak - "The world was on fire and no one could save me but you..."

5. Sway by Michael Buble - "Other dancers may be on the floor, but my eyes will see only you..."

4. I'll Be There For You by Bon Jovi - "I'd steal the sun from the sky for you..."

3. How Do I Live by LeAnn Rimes - "Without you there would be no sun in my sky..."

2. God Gave Me You by Blake Shelton - "On my own I'm only half of what I could be..."

1. Can't Take My Eyes Off You by Frankie Valli - "Pardon the way that I stare, there's nothing else to compare..."

Those are mine. What are your favorite love songs? Do you remember when you first heard them?

*Lyrics are from my fading memory, so if I get the words wrong, feel free to correct me in the comments. ;)

My novel, Reforming the Cowboy, is a steamy adult contemporary romance novel. In celebration of my first category-length book releasing this month, I'm hosting a giveaway. Good luck!

Reforming the Cowboy: A South Beach Book
Marisa Cleveland

Country singer Billy Hardy needs to get back on the charts. His manager assures him headlining the opening of a cafe in South Beach is his best chance at getting back to the big time. If he fails, his career is over for good this time.

Lacey Durant can't believe opening night includes the country singer she crushed on through college. And her customers agree he's dreamy. But his playboy reputation threatens her cafe's image and she can't afford that. She insists Billy stay with her so she can keep an eye on him, and thwart overenthusiastic fans.

Billy's charms and Lacey's sexy curves prove more than either can resist, but she refuses to be just another lyric in his well-known songs of heartbreak.

An Excerpt from Reforming the Cowboy:

Even if she’d yelled or screamed or cried, he couldn't have released her, and that thought should have scared the hell out of him. But she’d said his name on a whisper. A plea. He heard a hundred different intonations in his name on her lips, and a faint succession of single tones formed a melody in his mind. She was his muse, the reason he heard music again after silence for so long.

He knew he’d write a song about this moment. This indecision about letting someone in, letting someone sneak by the armor and the shields and the protective wall built to keep intruders away. Was Lacey his intruder?

His resolve crumbled. Hell, maybe he never had any to begin with.

They are amazing lyrics. Very moving.

One of my favorites is "When You Say Nothing At All" sung by RONAN KEATING from the movie NOTTING HILL. It just gets me every time.

Hi Mary, welcome! "When You Say Nothing At All" is another song I absolutely love. :) Right now, I'm listening to "Burn for You" by Sting over and over again.

Great post! As for my favorite love songs, there are a ton by Nat King Cole that I absolutely adore. One of my favorites is "Answer Me, My Love" - "Answer me, oh my love, just what sin have I been guilty of? Tell me how I came to lose your love..."
