Karyn Gerrard
Historical Romance/Erotica (light BDSM)
Published in 2013

H/h - Baron Simon Wolstenholme/Lila Jenner

My rating:

                                            [spoiler alert]

Karyn Gerrard’s The Governess and the Beast had an interesting storyline and some pretty surprising twists that I hadn’t imagine coming. This is the second book of Blind Cupid series, which is based on the characters from a brothel of the same name.

Beneath the Beauty by Skye Warren

Beneath the Beauty (novella)
Beauty #2

Skye Warren
Contemporary Romance/Erotica
Published in 2013

H/h - Blake Morris/Erin Raider
Setting: Present time.

Read in May, 2013.
My rating:

                                              [spoiler alert]

Through a free short read, Beauty Touched the Beast, I was introduced to this relatively new author around 2 yrs. ago; a story that stole my heart completely. I gushed about it in my review because I couldn’t help it. It’s not always that you find a good story from a debut author, more so if it’s a freebie. And because I found both, I’ve been an avid reader of Skye Warren’s books, all of them till date.

Beauty Touched the Beast, (now) book 1 of the Beauty series, was indeed about a ‘beauty’ and her ‘beast’. Beneath the Beauty is the continuation of their passionat love story.

X Marks the Scot
Bad Boys of the Highlands #2

Medieval Romance
Victoria Roberts
Published in 2013

H/h - Declan MacGregor/Lady Liadain Campbell
Setting: The Highlands, 1604.

Read in May, 2013.
My rating:

                                               [spoiler alert]

X Marks the Scot by Victoria Roberts was pretty damned good! Since my experience with book 1 wasn’t inspiring, I didn’t know what to expect from this one. But, VR made it all worthwhile for me! I thoroughly enjoyed the storyline, but mostly, I loved seeing Declan and Liadain together. They were SO hilarious at times that I had a constant grin on my face throughout the story. These funny moments were definitely a plus point for this book.

Book Blurb:

When young Kate receives an anonymous text message she doesn't realize how much her world is about to change. Surrendering to her inner most desires Kate soon finds herself submitting to the erotic, sensual and sensitive demands of her mysterious Master.

Drawn into a world of erotic love Kate quickly realizes all that matters in her world is Her Master's Voice.

Just a Taste...

Kate got to her knees on the living room floor and tied the red scarf around her head to blindfold herself.

In the sudden darkness Kate's senses seemed heightened. Every small sound made her flinch, and her mind quickly became overwhelmed with erotic images. Her naked skin felt cool, and yet she felt as though she was on fire. She rested her hands on her thighs. Her palms were sweating.

The silence seemed to slow time. She became aware of every new sound, and each small noise took on greater importance. Her attention was tuned to the sound of the front door, and when she heard the scrape of distant shuffling her body suddenly tensed in anticipation. A shudder thrilled through her body and her breath caught in the back of her throat.

Then she heard the door swinging slowly open.

He was here!
Kate's body tensed. She heard his soft footsteps as he crossed the room. She could feel him nearby, standing somewhere in front of her. She gulped and licked her lips nervously.

"You are perfectly safe," her Master said, and Kate felt herself literally melting at the deep confident assurance in his voice.

She nodded, not trusting herself to speak.

More footsteps. Kate sensed him walking around her, as if he was inspecting his new property. She straightened her back.

"You are beautiful," he said. By the sound of his voice, Kate knew he was standing close behind her. She stayed silent, and now he was here, now it was all really happening... her mind was blank. Her whole focus was on the sound of his voice and the sense of him being near her.

Veronica by Nattie Jones

Veronica (novella)

Nattie Jones
Historical Romance/Erotica (light BDSM)
Published in 2010

H/h - Jeffrey, the Duke of Durhamshire/Miss Veronica Bridges
Setting: Regency era.

Read in 2013.
My rating:

                                            [spoiler alert]

Veronica by Nattie Jones was my first try of the author’s work, and I’m not really impressed. There are things about the story bothered me a lot even though I read a lot of erotica with light BDSM. I wasn’t fond of the author’s writing either.

Frederick is a demon. Born in Maryland in the early 1980′s, he hasn’t a clue where he came from or why, but feels an irresistible desire to occupy a human body. Once inside, he finds the previous occupants’ consciousness and memories forever erased, an inevitable side effect that gives Frederick pause when switching bodies, but not so much as to truly halt his ongoing enjoyment of human lives. In various bodies, he travels the world for decades–aimless–sampling cultures and experiencing life from the points of view of males, females, young, old, rich, poor.

Now, Frederick has an urge to return to his roots in America, explore the mystery of his origin, find someone to love, and settle down for a while. In his hometown, his mission bears fruit much faster than he expected, as person after person presents themselves, and following his impulses, he is lead directly to love, tragedy, answers, and the humanity he never knew he wanted.

The Heart's Warrior by Leigh Bale

The Heart's Warrior

Leigh Bale
Medieval Romance
Published in 2008

H/h - Jonas Sigurdsson/Kerstin of Moere
Setting: North of the Danelaw, 954 AD.

Read in May, 2013.
My rating:

                                          [spoiler alert]

The Heart's Warrior by Leigh Bale started out pretty good. I was mainly interested because the H, Jonas is a Viking, and I don’t think I’ve read another Viking hero before. I was prepared for an interesting medieval romance. But sadly, it was more like a hair pulling read for me. Too many misunderstandings, trust-issues, too much drama of the wrong kind just made me want to scream!
